It was my son’s first proper job after finishing university. He had spent 3 long years studying business and now after all his hard work he was going out into the real world.

After his graduation we decided to have a party for all of our friends and family. We set up the BBQ and spent a lovely afternoon drinking beer and generally having a good time. Later towards the evening I pulled my son to one side and gave him his gift. I didn’t want him to open it in front of everyone because it was a special moment between my son and I. I had spent ages looking for the right gift. His Dad and I had already bought him a car but I wanted to give him something personal just from me. I found these collector sets of cufflinks and thought they would be an ideal present. I bought the Fiber Optic Classic collectors set because it had five sets in it (one for each day of the week). It was comforting knowing that I could still look after my little boy even when he had grown up and that whenever he got ready for work in the morning he would think of me.

That was years ago now and he still wears the same cufflinks to work every day. He has even bought matching ties to correspond with them. It really was a useful gift although maybe I should buy him some new ones this year!
