The hallmark of our modern, western culture is the cellphone. Just to think it wasn’t too long ago that we were all shackled to corded phones that did nothing else but call others and take calls. Answering machines came out around the 1970s, which gave us all a way to screen calls, and call ID didn’t come out until the late 80s. The first cellphones had to be carried in something like a satchel or was the size of a brick, and though they worked, reception was spotty at best because there weren’t nearly enough cell towers dotting the landscape to go around. Today’s cellphones are wonders that our forebearers, say, forty years ago might have problems believing. The average smartphone can not only make and receive calls, it can take messages, ID incoming calls, check one’s email (imagine explaining that to them), watch video, get weather reports, book reservations and tickets, and even provide GPS navigation. Some feature nifty hi-tech touch-screens for exemplary user-friendliness. Some today may decry how even more reliant we are on our cellphones, but one might also say they’ve been quite liberating and empowering. So when you wear your Cellphone Cufflinks you display an appreciation for a technology that has become a facet of the 21st Century. These silver cufflinks are crafted in the shape of an older cellphone, complete with push-button dialing, a little display screen, and a tiny antenna. These are indeed work related cufflinks in that they are an integral part of who we are and what we do, adding to our productivity in ways we can’t entirely imagine, particularly when we put them to their fullest ability. The future of this amazing technology is exciting and eagerly anticipated.
